Rockwell Automation plans to close Eau
Claire plant; cut 115 jobs
Milwaukee, WI - Rockwell
Automation Inc. has announced that it will close its plant in
Eau Claire, WI, within the next eight months. The closing will eliminate
115 jobs. The facility had been in operation since 1993.
The company plans to relocate
manufacturing of its small logic controllers (SLCs), PanelView human-machine
interfaces (HMIs), and other small molded plastic products made
at the Eau Claire plant to other Rockwell facilities in North America.
This production may move to plants in New Hampshire or Ohio.
“In its continual analysis of
its operations, Rockwell Automation determined that, to better use
its manufacturing assets, it made the most sense to transfer the
work done in Eau Claire to its other facilities in North America,”
says Steve Smith, Rockwell’s media relations director.
The company noted that all employees
affected by the closing are being provided with outplacement services,
severance packages and retention or completion bonuses. All were
also notified, pursuant to the Workers Adjustment Retraining Notification
Act (WARN), that Rockwell will close the facility.
