Switchboard overview.

Electrical design of L.V. motor control feeder components

–Contactors, thermal overload relay, switches/disconnectors, HRC fuse, MPCB`s, starters.

Electrical design of power control feeder accressories : -Fault level calculations -Selection of – ACB`s, MCCB`s, MCB`s/ELCB`s

Understanding control accessories - Meters, Push buttons, timers, selector switches, Control transformer, Current transformer, potential transformer.

Electrical Design Aspects of other switchboard items :

-Busbar- nominal and short circuit currents, sizing of phase and neutral busbar, selection of busbar support, arc travel phenomenon .

-Cables – Types, selection, derating, protection, short time and continous ratings.

-Enclosure – designs and forms,selection,inspection and testing

Basic aspects of electrical safety .

Workshop Sessions :

-Demonstration of switchgear products .

-Good termination practise.

Methodology :

 Lectures, discussions, videos, case studies with emphasis on selection supported by demonstrations.
