Understanding basic concepts of switchgear &
requirements As per IS-ratings, duties, utilization
categories, classifications.
Motor
control concepts and selection of switchgear components
–Contactors, thermal overload relays,
switches/disconnectors, HRC fuses,
MPCB`s and starters .
Power
control and distribution concepts . -Fault level
calculations -Selection of switchgear components –
ACB`s,MCCB`s,MCB`s/ELCB`s
Control
accressories – Push buttons, selector switches, timers,
panel meters, limit switches.
Basic
aspects of electrical safety.
P.F.control
concepts .
Good
termination practise.
Workshop Sessions :
Switchgear
components – operation mechanism, parts - identification
& role; calibration and testing. Fitting, setting and
testing of accessories. Preventive Maintenance, trouble
shooting and spares replacement. Practicals on termination
practise.
Methodology :
Lectures;
group discussions and experience sharing; case studies with
emphasis on selection aspect; long structured hands for
workshop sessions for hands-on learning supported by ways of
videos, demonstrations, and product clinics.
